Kannawidan festival

Ilocos Sur celebrated the 4th Kannawidan Festival last January 9, 2014 - February 4, 2014. We are celebrating it every year.

We are celebrating Kannawidan Festival so that people will still have knowledge about the customs or traditions of the Ilokanos. Last Kannawidan Festival, we have so many activities like Fun Run, Saniata, Motorcrade and many more. This year’s event is wonderful. Many people have joined some activites. Many people enjoyed.

This Festival brings back the traditions and beliefs of the Ilocano

Locals revived traditional practices that Ilocano elders passed on in the annual Kannawidan Ylocos festival from January 29 to February 3. Now on its fourth year, the Kannawidan (local term for traditional practice) festival was also an occasion to strengthen the Ilocano culture, recognize Ilocos Sur’s sons and daughters who brought honor to their province, celebrate abundant harvest or just to celebrate the Ilocano spirit that continues to drive locals to boost their home province. Various festivities were staged from trade, agriculture, aqua and livestock while a display of farm products opened the six-day festival. To carve young talents in the field of arts, an array of talent competitions gathered the youth from choral, marching bands, traditional street dancing, traditional music ensemble , dance drama, traditional folk dancing , painting, design making and photo exhibits. Tradition was also found in the culinary treats that residents prepared including delicacies that Ilocos Sur is known for.

CHANGE START WITH ME :)

We can never get to a place where change is no longer needed. Anyone believing they have already arrived and feel change is no longer needed, they have already learned enough, is a person who has chosen to stop growing. Therefore, I am asking you to understand that change is necessary and stretch your borders wide and set your heart to receive the word of God and change. God is expecting more from us!

Let start our life with the love of others, Life without the companion of others is like hell, useless life. So let us start to love our self first. Because how can you love someone if you cant love your self and the whole being you.

                                                        NEW YEAR NEW ME

When the new year comes around it seems like the perfect time for self-improvement.Even though I’ve always failed my New Year’s resolutions, every year I promise myself that this time will be different. I’ve tried everything from being a vegetarian to starting my homework earlier to giving up Facebook. Each time after about a month (at most) I’ve given up. Why do I even bother? I don’t feel that bad when I break my resolutions but sometimes I wish I could do better.
This year, i decided to become a vegetarian. It seemed like the hip thing to do at my school. I have a lot of friends who are vegetarians, so I thought it would be easy to stop eating meat.Unfortunately there were a few problems. First, every morning I usually ate hot dog and egg with rice.I felt like a lion in a cage watching a pig taunt me. One day during the first week of the new year, they served pepperoni pizza at our house, and it is so delicious.I accepted the fact that being a vegetarian wasn’t for me.
I tried something that didn’t require giving up food because I knew depriving myself of my favorite foods would be too hard. I promised to do my homework before Sunday night. But about two weeks after school started, I realized doing my homework at lunch wasn’t a great idea because I always got distracted by all the fun I thought I was missing. I ended up with my book open but talking to my friends. After that I tried getting up on a Saturday morning and hitting the books, but I ended up reading the same line over and over. I was bored and felt like I had something better to do. After I answered one question, I would check my phone or send a text. This made homework take much longer and I eventually got bored and stopped. After that I went back to doing my homework on Sunday nights.
Today, I look back at those massive failures and laugh. It is not as if doing my homework before Sunday was Mission: Impossible. I eventually figured out how to do my homework by turning off the TV and doing it the night it was assigned. And being a vegetarian is a nice thought because it seems healthy but I love meat. The Facebook goal wouldn’t be that challenging now. I have slowly become less attached to Facebook. I update my status only about once a week and I refuse to fail finals because of Facebook. I’ve learned that New Year’s resolutions aren’t meant to change your life, they’re just a nice tradition. It’s fun to challenge myself and find out how long I’ll last.
I know i can do it. Today i will be a better person, better than yesterday and much better than anyone else.

REFLECTION

                                                             REFLECTION

During our discussion, I have learned more about computer. How to use the computer properly. How to communicate with others using the computer and the other technique of computer. Nowadays, computer or internet is very important to our daily life. Computer can make our work faster. You can search your lessons in computer faster and correctly.
Moving on I will study and I will listen attentively to what our teacher is discussing and saying inside or outside our classroom. I didn't met any problem because my Personal Computer is working so fast and also my internet is working so fast. So i can finish my activities in just a few minutes.

the essence of christmas

                                                  THE ESSENCE OF CHRISTMAS

We are in that special season once again, a season of joy, of peace, of great tidings. A season when we celebrate the birth of Christ the King, the redeemer of mankind! Jesus is the reason for the season. - What is the real essence of christmas ?

What does Christmas mean to you and me? Christmas is not all about merry making. We must also spare time to reflect on the essence of the period which is the love of God for humanity.

At Christmas, we are expected to spare time to contemplate on things eternal. That is, we must remind ourselves that we are strangers her on earth; that our real home is in heaven. And that no matter how long we live, we shall sure die one day. So many people who started the year 2013 with us are not around to finish it. Like us, they commenced the New Year with high hopes and aspirations. Some may have planned to marry this year, to buy a new car or to move into their new apartment. But alas, all those are now but a pipe dream. Thus, we should count ourselves lucky to be alive to see this Christmas. This should therefore be a period of gratitude to God for sparing our lives and counting us among the living. It should equally be an opportunity for us to mend our ways with God so that we will not be found wanting.

The spirit behind Christmas is that of giving and sharing.

This month, I heard three different people talk about December, they all said the same thing:, oh my “its December, an expensive month”. This caught my attention, why is it that people are talking about an expensive month instead of being happy that it is almost Christmas. We give each other presents but do we really know the essence of Christmas?. Jesus himself said, “love thy neighbor as thyself”.

Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Christ. A time for us to understand the lessons from Jesus & reflect on them. Jesus brought a new religion based on love & the vision of a God who is full of compassion & forgiveness; a vision of doing everything with a positive mindset & from a place of love. -
